On the sidelines of the State visit of HE Mr. Alassane Ouattara to Beijing in the People's Republic of China, the First Lady, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, met this Friday, August 31, 2018, the China Women’s Federation at its headquarters.

Created by the Chinese Communist Party in 1949, this federation is the only Chinese organization supposed to defend women’s rights. This organization had 90,000 civil servants In 2010. Ms. Shen Yueyue, President of this powerful organization, said her organization was very happy to receive the Ivorian presidential couple in Beijing and welcomed the good relations between Côte d'Ivoire and China.

"We really appreciate what you do for women and children," Ms. Shen Yueyue told Mrs. OUATTARA. She also wished that the forum that the First Lady of China is organizing next September 4 on AIDS will be a source of inspiration for the Ivorian First Lady. According to her  promotion of women’s and children’s rights and the eradication of poverty are part of the priorities of the Chinese Communist Party.

Mrs. Dominique Ouattara, for her part, indicated the many similarities between Chinese women and Ivorian women and took the opportunity to congratulate the  China Women’s federation for their commitment.

 

In addition, the First Lady of Côte d'Ivoire, explained to the representatives of the federation the meaning of her humanitarian commitment through the Children of Africa Foundation, her fight against child labour, the empowerment of women through the Fund to support Women in Côte d'Ivoire (FAFCI) with over 140 thousand beneficiaries and her role as UNAIDS Special Ambassador for the elimination of mother-to-child AIDS transmission. The President of the Children of Africa Foundation emphasized that since her husband took office, she has left the business world to focus exclusively on humanitarian work. Both delegations exchanged gifts as a sign of remembrance and friendship. After the meeting, Mrs. Dominique Ouattara visited the famous "Forbidden City" of Beijing also called the Imperial Palace.
